Multi-Passionate Much ?

For as long as I can remember I have been torn in between what I would like to do in my life. I have always had so many different interests and hobbies.

When I was young I wanted to do it all. Music, art, sport, sewing, building etc. I was always encouraged to do so aswell. I did music classes and in sport it went from ballet, gymnastics, dance classes, handball, basketball, boxing,  skateboarding, snowboarding. When that time came at school to choose subjects, I got confused. There was so many things I wanted to do! How could I just pick a couple??? So of course I picked the “obvious”. Music, sport and language. And yet I was feeling confused. I wanted to create, but I also wanted to help. I was surrounded with people who all had everything sorted. They knew exactly where they wanted to be. Me? I just got stressed. How could I pick something to do for the rest of my life?

Just recently I came over someone talking about being  – A multi-passionate individual /  multipotentialite

Then I was advised to check out : PUTTYLIKE.COM

I could relate to Every. Single. Thing.

A multipotentialite is a person who has many different interests and creative pursuits in life.

Multipotentialites have no “one true calling” the way specialists do. Being a multipotentialite is our destiny. We have many paths and we pursue all of them, either sequentially or simultaneously (or both).

Multipotentialites thrive on learning, exploring, and mastering new skills. We are excellent at bringing disparate ideas together in creative ways. This makes us incredible innovators and problem solvers.

When it comes to new interests that emerge, our insatiable curiosity leads us to absorb everything we can get our hands on. As a result, we pick up new skills fast and tend to be a wealth of information.

I felt like they were talking about me.

The revelation that there are people out there like me, meant that I wasn´t as useless, adhd, schizophrenic or any other negative word I or others used to think about myself.

And not to forget the massive insecurity!

I have always  seemed to be the only one who just couldn´t be happy in a “normal”  job, like most people clearly are.

I have always wondered why I get so easily bored? Why I feel like I am trapped?

And why is this still happening? I should be old enough to do “the normal stuff”? Everybody else seems to be doing fine.

I need to have variation, I need to work with bits and pieces. I love multitasking.

The aspect of multipotentiality that worries multipotentialites the most is the tendency to become bored. Boredom usually hits once we’ve learned what we are meant to learn on a particular topic, and instead of moving on, we try to continue down a path we’re no longer interested in. Boredom is our body’s way of telling us that it’s time to move on to something new.

Multipotentialites don’t define “finishing” the way a specialist (and indeed, most of society) does. We learn what we came to learn and then move on to the next interest. This may not always look like “finishing” to the outside world, but it is.

I will definitely have to read more about it.

Stop making excuses!

And take this whole new realization to my advantage!

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.
